Solo Pieces

  • Short – Piano Solo
  • Sway – Violin Solo
  • One After Another – Cello Solo

Short

A “Short” piano solo exploring the full use of the chromatic scale. This piece was written as an exercise in fully utilizing the 12 standard pitches in western music. Steady, mysterious, but also charming in its simplicity.

Sway

A short solo violin piece featuring a slow but steady flowing melody. Its the sort of melody one would hear on a bright sunny morning while mysterious dark clouds slowly roll in. The melody sways from a delicate stroll into a wobbling dramatic tumble as the piece progresses.

One After Another

This solo cello piece came to fruition from a desire to create an intense, fast paced and anxiety inducing piece of repitoire. In order to achieve such an effect I experimented with modulating time signatures, tempo, and different meters within the work. The title “One After Another” is a direct reflection of how these techniques are used throughout. Appearing again and again like one series of events after another with no sign of stopping.
